Abstract

Purpose : The purpose of this study is to identify the awareness of the calling of mission and mission training experiences of nursing students in Kosin University.

Method : Data were collected from December 1 to 14, 2015. participants were 402 nursing students those who agreed to be part of the research, among entire nursing students in Kosin University.

Result : Those students who received calling of mission were 18.2% and among these students those who found it while attending to university were 50%, and those who are interested in were 63.6%. The percentage of students those who received domestic mission training were about 40%, and those who have experienced overseas short term mission training were 30.1%. The programs that affected content of calling of mission were lectures about nursing and mission, chapel, overseas short term mission training, extracurricular activities, spiritual nursing practice, and the missionary¡¯s testimony.

Conclusion : The results from this study suggest that to develop the nursing mission, there is a need to develop specific programs for awareness of the calling of mission of nursing and nursing mission volunteers.
